RELIGION OR PHILOSOPHY: DEPENDS WHAT IS VIABLE IN A PARTICULAR STATE

A question has arisen as to when philosophy takes over from religion:

In the decision on whether to enact the provisions of one's Religion or the Philosophy upon which it is based, the author argues that one needs to be adaptable, putting on one hat for social interactions and another for political ones. This is necessary for peace of mind, the most essential part of the attraction of Vishista Advaita Vedanta for me. Every moment the slate has to be cleaned, the slate of mind that is and one would nonchalantly, spontaneously and unpremeditatedly truth-accommodate (advaita, in my conception, the oneness of Reality).

Hello Paul, 1. I have this moment on receipt of your email have formally resigned as the President of the Conservative Libertarian Society and its offshoot 'The Conservative Libertarian Party of the United Kingdom (https://theconservativelibertariansociety.com; https://theconservativelibertarianpartyoftheunitedkingdom), the decision being taken upon very careful considerations of what I can do productively and fruitfully in this day and age given the realities that we face, now. That is the most important consideration for a Vishista Advaita Vedantist. 2. This leaves me open to campaign for the Liberal Democrats as the only Party that goes some way towards the ideals that I have in my mind, and my membership must not be stopped by the Liberal as someone had indicated earlier to me in consideration that I had another political party that I stood for in The Conservative Libertarian Party of the United Kingdom: this is history now, and I wish to do whatever I can politically to help the debate and so wish to engage in full participation at the following event:

''We are delighted that risk-assessed campaigning can now restart. Across the region local campaign teams are re-establishing their leaflet delivery and canvassing campaigns, in line with the latest guidance at https://www.libdems.org.uk/covid19. Please contact your local party and offer to help if you can. And if you can’t please consider sending a donation so we can continue to use paid delivery services where necessary. Come to our campaign launch To formally launch the campaign for May ALDC and SE Region are holding an online Rally and Q&A event on Tuesday 16th March, to which you are all invited: PM – Introduction Paul Farthing, Chair SELD 7:05 – Guest Speaker 7:30 – Q&A with Council Group leaders / Campaigns staff  8:15 – Fun activity summation Paul Farthing 8:30 – Finish  Details of how to sign up will be out later this week.''

3. I look forward to receiving the details of how to sign up for this event next week, but in the meantime I wish to make a small donation towards covering he costs of this event, if you would send me the online Bank Transfer Account Facility, preferably through PAYPAL but not necessarily as I can pay the donation directly from my Santander Bank Account now. Yours sincerely, Dr Shantanu Panigrahi, 3 Hoath Lane, Wigmore, Gillingham, Kent ME8 0SL, Tel: 07967789619, Liberal Democrats Membership No 8763623.

Dear Shantanu, Finally, the Government has recognised that democracy needs for political parties to be able to campaign for elections. May 6th is a huge opportunity for the Liberal Democrats with county council and districts elections and votes for the Police and Crime Commissioners. Across the region we are working hard to re-elect hard-working local councillors, and elect campaigners who will make a real difference to their communities. They need your help to win in May. We are delighted that risk-assessed campaigning can now restart. Thursday 11th March - Zoom with Layla Lib Dem Foreign Affairs spokesperson Layla Moran is holding a live Q&A session on Thursday at 6pm, hosted by the Canterbury & Coastal local party. Spaces are limited, but if you’d like to join in, you can still register by going to www.canterburylibdems.org/news/zoom-with-layla Attendees are invited to submit questions in advance so if there’s something you’d like Layla to answer, this is your opportunity. If your question is selected, you can put it directly to our party Foreign Affairs spokesperson yourself (if you want to!). There will also be a limited opportunity to submit questions via chat on the night.  To submit a question please email info@canterburylibdems.org  There’s no charge for the event, but we will be collecting donations towards our county election campaign. Thursday 11th March – Brighton and Hove Environment debate Join Brighton and Hove Local Party on a virtual Zoom discussion for a lively debate on “How we can best protect our local environment”, on Thursday 11th March at 7pm. Click here to register. Hopefully Covid-19 restrictions will soon start to ease. But does a tsunami of litter await us as the hospitality and tourism sector, so vital to the local economy, reopens and locals and tourists return to our city and beaches? Plus, what are the prospects for protecting our seashore and rivers now that the UK will no longer be subject to the EU's Bathing Water Directive and Water Framework Directive.  Speakers for this event are Baroness Kate Parminter - Member of the Lib Dem Parliamentary Environment, Food and Rural Affairs team, Martin Kersh, Executive Director of The Foodservice Packaging Association and Steve Creed - Co-Founder Circular Brighton and Hove. Friday 12th March – Wera Hobhouse talk Bexhill and Battle Lib Dems are holding a zoom talk from 6pm with Wera Hobhouse MP, who was elected MP for Bath in 2017. Wera is a passionate pro-European and was the only Lib Dem MP to vote against every form of Brexit. She successfully introduced what has become known as the Up skirting Bill, which is now law.  After serving as the party's Housing and Local Government Spokesperson, Wera was asked to lead on the Climate Crisis for the Liberal Democrats. To be included in the zoom meeting, please contact Wendy Dash at wendyadash@hotmail.com  We would prefer questions beforehand, and we would be grateful for a small voluntary donation to our funds. All profits towards their County Council election campaign.  To take part please email Mike Thompson mjthompson26@yahoo.co.uk.  Details of the runners, riders and owners will be sent to those registering their interest.

It is now just a few weeks until Polling Day. Thank you to everyone who has been campaigning over the past few months, delivering leaflets, phoning supporters and reaching out to the public through social media. We now have the opportunity to step up our campaign over the next few weeks and show how much the public value their local communities and the difference we can make, when we can run or influence councils.

Kind Regards, Paul Farthing, http://www.southeastlibdems.org.uk/ South East Liberal Democrats · United Kingdom

The ideal is impossible as panacea for all and also as elixir-of-conduct for the individual, in the uncertainties of Nature that one has to deal with so that religion (dharma) is non-existent in my psyche once again. There was a need to look for alternatives in every issue that one arrives at stumbling blocks, but in the end common-sense prevails when one truth-accommodates as we do in satya-advaita yoga. There is no virtue in being idealistic, one has to accept the reality on the ground and this is well contained in the philosophy of Vishista Advaita Vedanta, that supercedes the practice of the imagined religion of Vaishnavism that I was actively pursuing, which means it was an attachment, not conducive to the philosophy at all. So it is hereby jettisoned, I cannot describe myself as a Vaishnavist following any religion as dharma let alone Sanatan Dharma as a service in bhakti to God, be that Sri Krishna directly or Sri Krishna as Vishnu under which the philosophy was constructed by me.

In short, I regard myself now at this moment in time as simply a Vishista Advaita Vedantist.https://theconservativelibertariansociety.com/post/the-search-for-a-new-source-of-medical-assessment

I am resigned to the new reality as a telephone call to the Surgery following a text that I received to remind me of an appointment tomorrow morning, was returned by the doctor who had examined my latest email sent to the Surgery last night and we were free and open in the disucssion which reinstated my realisation that in the United Kingdom there is no other body dealing with independent medical services for patient, all such private institutions being inter-connected and dominated by the government of the National Health Service. So in my vision as President of The Conservative Libertarian Society and General Secretary of The Conservative Libertarian Party of the United Kingdom that I wish to pursue I had to accept the jurisdiction of my personal doctor in my Surgery as the conversation ended and I said to him 'You decide what is best'.
